We are looking for a creative DT Teacher (Food Specialist) who is excited to engage students with the world of food technology from healthy eating and nutritional science to culinary arts and sustainability.
As a DT Teacher (Food Specialist) you will be responsible for teaching food technology to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 with potential for teaching Key Stage 5. You will inspire students to develop their practical skills and creativity while encouraging them to explore the impact of food on health the environment and society.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Delivering Lessons: As a DT Teacher (Food Specialist) you will plan and deliver engaging lessons that cover a broad range of food topics including nutrition food preparation techniques and the science of cooking.
Practical Skills Development: Provide students with handson learning experiences helping them develop key culinary skills such as cooking techniques food safety and presentation.
Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess students practical and theoretical work providing constructive feedback and guidance to help them improve.
Promote Healthy Eating and Sustainability: Encourage students to understand the importance of healthy eating habits food sustainability and the environmental impact of food choices.
Collaborate with the DT Team: Work closely with other members of the Design and Technology Department to share resources best practices and ideas ensuring a cohesive approach to the curriculum.
ExtraCurricular Activities: Support the department in running extracurricular activities such as cooking clubs school events and foodrelated projects.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed DT Teacher (Food Specialist) who is passionate about food technology and teaching.
Qualifications: A degree in Food Technology Home Economics or a related field along with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
Experience: Experience teaching Food Technology at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 is desirable though early career teachers (ECTs) are welcome to apply.
Passion for Food Education: A deep interest in food nutrition and culinary arts and a desire to inspire students to explore the impact of food on health culture and the environment.
Creative and Engaging Teaching: You should be able to engage students through practical learning and encourage their creativity in food design and preparation.
Team Player: You will work closely with other members of the Design and Technology Department so a collaborative and proactive attitude is essential.
