Job Description
Program Management & Campus Collaboration
- Oversees the daily management of Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars (MFOS) Program engagements for services offerings promotions and experience of scholars at UF. Aligns efforts with the vision and strategies within the Division of Student Lifes strategic plan and institutional priorities. Provides budget oversight for program offerings. Educates students families campus partners including faculty and administrators about the strengths and needs of MFOS students. Advocate for and support MFOS scholars and program objectives.
- Builds and maintains relationships with campus partners student organizations and stakeholders to create opportunities and referrals for MFOS students and other students in contemporary populations to thrive at the university and beyond. Ensures a coordinated and comprehensive approach to student success that address barriers to student persistence retention and desired postgraduation outcomes for MFOS scholars. Works with leadership and campus to create pathways and partnerships that link academic cocurricular wellbeing and extracurricular opportunities for greater access and student success across disciplines and interests.
- Stay current on the firstgeneration and other contemporary populations of students national and local trends. Connects theory lived experiences of students and datadriven outcomes to make decisions about program offerings and enhancements. Focus on learner persistence retention wellbeing engagement and postgraduation success and university affinity.
Program Design & Implementation
- Creates educational programs services offerings and resources designed that champion positive outcomes for scholars with a focus on academic outcomes the cocurricular experiences life skill development and overall wellbeing of scholars. Gathers uses and shares information and trends to support student success in general and MFOS student success. Customizes and scales interventions for greater access to scale services provided through program offerings and other initiatives to advance student career mobility. Evaluates program and makes adjustments.
- Remains knowledge and promotes campus resources and scholar usage of such resources and institutional offerings including academic cocurricular and extracurricular activities wellbeing supports financial literacy and community engagement opportunities that support world readiness as scholars entering an everchanging global community.
- Implements strategies for elevating and enhancing the impact of the scholarship program and the support services provided to scholars. Sharing insights stories and disseminate data to relevant parties as the program leader and contact. Provides guidance and direction to others on the program policies procedures offerings. Ensures program efforts align with university policies and regulations.
Student Success Support Coaching Interventions & Advising
- Provides personalized student success coaching interventions and advising including guidance in navigating the student experience for support and learning inside and outside of the classroom student experience and postgraduation planning for learners.
- Promotes engagement in highimpact practices like internships servicelearning and networking opportunities that enhance academic professional development and positive postgraduation contributions for scholars.
- Makes referrals to oncampus and off campus resources that support student holistic wellbeing and achievements.
- Maintains confidentiality of student records and adheres to university policies regarding student data.
Program & Unit Supervision
- Manages the departments operational staffing (direct and indirect staff) and resources to ensure efficient and effective service delivery for the benefit of the university.
- Oversees departmental staff ad hoc teams workgroups councils volunteers and initiatives to educate engage and advance the learning experience and the academic mission of the university for student success. May lead working groups and manage staff (directly or indirectly) based on objectives and program needs to advance goals.
- Supervises and leads professional staff graduate assistants interns and others providing ongoing coaching guidance and professional development opportunities.
Tracking Reporting and Program Evaluation
- Coordinates data collection and assessment efforts of departmental and institutional datadriven decision making for enhancements in efficiencies and effectiveness for unit mission and goals.
- Implements data driving decision making strategies to measure the effectiveness of student success programs and services while focusing on the impact on student persistence achievement and postgraduation success for MFOS program.
- Prepares reports on programs services partnerships interventions and success metrics providing actionable insights to stakeholders and the university leadership. Share findings with key stakeholders for greater reporting and attainments to showcase institutional broader goals and integration success.
Bachelors degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Prior experience with program development aimed to educate support and/or advocate for higherrisk and/or contemporary student populations.
- Experience working with firstgeneration students academic advising student success and transition programs.
- The desire to work collegially within a student successoriented organization.
- Knowledge of higher education support services student development financial aid and student success and interventions.
- Ability to work collaboratively and be a team player.
- Competency in problem solving.
- Experience working with varied populations of students.
- Evidence of effective working relationships with students faculty staff and external constituents.
- Experience advising coaching mentoring and with assessment/research.
- Must be an effective communicator and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills; and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a diverse constituency.
- Proven success working with stakeholders; project management skills; experience in a datadriven environment; organizational skills; and the ability to lead influence and motivate others are strongly preferred.
- The ability and willingness to travel when needed.
