Position Summary:
Identify support and manage process development and continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment. Responsible for providing expert daily direction in setup troubleshooting repair and continuous improvement of production equipment. Resident expert on production equipment and processes and provides education to engineers manufacturing and maintenance personnel to ensure efficient product processing. Contributes to crossfunctional development teams through risk analysis verification and validation testing and process development. This position will work under general direction and have latitude in determining how to solve problems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides daily direction and support to manufacturing to support assembly cells.
- Maintains control of component and tooling implementation for production including but not limited to equipment validation component drawings and device bill of material.
- Provides expertise in specification procurement build documentation validation and personnel training on automated manufacturing equipment.
- Review product field returns with Quality Assurance personnel to determine root cause of potential manufacturing defects and provide process corrective actions if a defect trend analysis documents an unstable process.
- Comply with applicable FDA and international regulatory laws and standards
- Implement lean systems and improvements.
- Apply advanced lean and 6Sigma principles to solve technical and nontechnical problems.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings. Other responsibilities will include implementing new methodologies materials machine processes or products.
- Interface with the production personnel to actively troubleshoot production problems as well as continually improve the process.
- Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
Requirements:
- Has a minimum of 2 years experience as a manufacturing engineer supporting manufacturing operations
- Has a minimum of 1 year experience supporting laser manufacturing
- CNC experienced preferred
- BS in Engineering
- At least 1 year experience as a manufacturing engineer in the medical device industry
- Experience with medical device design controls
- Statistical analysis of various types of data
- AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Mechanical aptitude/trouble shooting
- Lean & 6sigma experience
