Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises employees in the Activity Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Plans organizes and directs a program of activities to best fulfill the residents needs and works within budget.
  • Maintains documentation as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Supervises the employees in the Activity Department.
  • Initiates and promotes activities within the facility and in the community to promote resident interest and general well being.
  • Encourages and schedules volunteers to assist in various activities programs.
  • Participates in weekly interdepartmental meetings.
  • Maintains records of resident activities and attends necessary meetings.
  • Prepares and plans a monthly activity calendar for residents.
  • Responsible for organizing resident council meetings and handling any followup needed.
  • Secures services of volunteer workers coordinates and secures appropriate background checks.
  • Speaks to co groups explaining organization activities and role of volunteer program.
  • Maintain theconfidentialityof all resident staff and organization information
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree (B.S. in recreational therapy; or two years of experience and/or training in a social or recreational program within the last five years one of which has to be full time in an activities program in a healthcare setting; or be a OT or COTA; or complete the certified training course approved by the state of Ohio.
  • Must have a current Ohio drivers license with an acceptable driving record and proof of insurance. Must meet Driver Certification requirements.
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate warmth compassion and respect for older adults.
