Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for providing direct therapeutic services to children for acquisition and mastery of functional skills in order to reduce or overcome limitations resulting from disabilities or developmental delays. This position evaluates assesses develops and carries out treatment plans documents progress and required processes educates families and community partners and collaborates with physicians and other care providers. Services are clinicbased in both individual and group settings. This position is a member of the Preschool Inclusion Team that supports both Brighton Preschool locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This position requires face to face interactions with staff board vendors and the general public on a daily basis to accomplish all essential functions of the position.

EVALUATIONS and Plan of Care 25

  • Evaluates analyzes and scores standardized test to determine appropriate therapy plan. Evaluation must establish a client with a disability and/or developmental delay meets the medical necessity criteria for ongoing therapy services.
  • Appropriately shares results with parent /caregiver. o Develops Plan of Care (POC) based on the results of the evaluation/assessment ensuring goals of the requested services to be provided are directed at improving adapting restoring or maintaining functions which have been lost or impaired due to a recent illness injury loss of body part or congenital abnormality or as a result of developmental delay or the presence of a chronic medical condition.
  • Plan of Care must include interventions short and longterm goals and measurable outcomes.
  • Upon initiation of therapy and throughout the duration of authorization of care therapist must provide education and training of the clients caregivers by developing and instructing them in a home treatment program to promote effective carryover of the therapy program and management of safety issues. o Documents all services within the required timelines and in compliance with documentation standards set by the agency Medicaid and private insurance rules and regulations.
  • Submits all evaluation documentation including evaluation tool to the appropriate personnel in accordance with program deadlines

Direct Therapy and Family Support 40

  • Delivers individualized therapy services to children with disabilities or developmental delays adhering to the established Plan of Care. o Provides handson therapy and equips families and caregivers with effective strategies to enhance the childs community participation.
  • Conducts therapy sessions in individual settings. o Ensures completion of all authorized therapy visits or units within the authorization period including scheduling and providing makeup sessions for missed appointments.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation of all services complying with agency Medicaid and private insurance standards and regulations.

Preschool Collaboration and Intervention 30

  • Collaborates in the preschool enrollment process through the MultiTiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Supports preschool teachers in adapting curriculum implementation to meet individual student needs.
  • Facilitates the creation of individualized learning environments by coaching and modeling the use of adaptive materials for teachers.
  • Participates in staff meetings professional development for preschool teachers and family meetings as required.
  • Develops content for Brighton professional development days and inclusion conferences or presentations.
  • Develops and maintains Preschool Intervention Plans (PIPs) and Classroom Intervention Plans (CIPs) in collaboration with Preschool Inclusion Team preschool teachers and Preschool leadership team.

Other Functions

  • Provide supervision to certified occupational therapy assistant if necessary. 3
  • Participates in monthly team meetings discipline agency and staffing meetings to ensure family and child outcomes are met and required information is secured. 1
  • Other duties to support the delivery and quality of services that are provided to Brighton families. 1

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required: Degreed and current Texas Licensure in occupational therapy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word Excel Outlook and Access as well as Adobe.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in ECI Special Education Early Childhood Education or a familycentered service organization
