Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Registered Nurse (RN) for our Surgery Department. This job is permanent full time.

Core competencies include but are not limited to the following:
- Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patients condition.
- Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.
- Performs plan of care intervention including medication administration specimen collection clinical treatments as well as other medical care treatment.
- Documents patient care given.
- Monitors records and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team physician patient and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living including personal hygiene elimination nutrition and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care including patient transfer discharge referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age culture condition and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional wellbeing of the patient.
Infection control & Cancer Registry Responsibilities:- Coordinates the development and evaluation of the organizations infection prevention and control strategies policies and planning.
- Collects and performs statistical analysis interpretation and dissemination of OSHA Standards/healthcare acquired infection data including risk assessment surveillance priorities and outcomes analysis.
- Assists with the development of educational resources and initiatives.
- Monitors research and developments in the field of infection prevention and control to identify best practices.
- Participates in quality improvement activities of the organization and the department.
- Facilitates the surgery centers process to provide a safe environment by reducing the risk of exposure to blood/body fluids to employees patients and customers of the facility.
- Collects compiles and reports cancer diagnosis data for state reporting purposes on a monthly basis.
- Prepares policies and procedures for surgery center.

Associates degree in Nursing:
