ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician II / Computer Support Technician to join our team.

This position is fulltime 40 hours weekly 8hour shifts) and works day/evening shifts. Some weekends will be required.

As the Pharmacy Technician II/Computer support Technician you will assist the pharmacy information team with maintenance of all computer and automated dispensing systems to include Omnicell Swisslog Pyxis and others. You will work with the computer information systems and Pharmacy Supply Chain teams to insure continuous system functionality.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Synchronize ADT information between PharmNet and Omnicell/Pyxis/Swisslog. Perform new unit/room build and testing in Omnicell/ Pyxis to correspond with hospital changes.
  • Resolve billing discrepancies/errors daily; provide backup support for the completion of the nonformulary charges
  • Perform system maintenance and support for Omnicell/Pyxis cabinets and BD logistics Carousel archiving quarterly applying monthly Microsoft patches tracking current hardware inventory for Omnicell/Pyxis and the Pharmogistics inventory management
  • Assist the IT department with trouble shooting Pharmacy department printer issues
  • Support data extracts from PharmNet and Omnicell/Pyxis including requests regarding medication usage location of inventory monthly cost transfers and systems activity
  • Support Omnicell/Pyxis daily operations by serving as a resource for both pharmacy and nursing staff; responding to requests for assistance; trouble shooting daily operational problems as they arise
  • Orient and train new pharmacy staff on Omnicell/Pyxis functionality
  • Collect and document system problems identified by staff and refer to supervisor for direction and resolution
  • Coordinate ordering and delivery of new Omnicell/Pyxis equipment to include refrigerator locking devices (Flexlocks etc). This includes the assembly of the new cabinets upon arrival and configuring the PCs for the CCHS network
  • Perform functional testing of all Omnicell/Pyxis upgrades in the test system prior to golive. Note areas where the functionality doesnt match current operations so that new processes can be developed
  • Assist with the testing of changes to hospital applications that affect Pharmacy Services
  • Maintain the user security privileges in Omnicell/Pyxis to meet operational demands
  • Support the maintenance of the Pyxis formulary by adding new nonpharmacy items updating NDC and alias information
  • Configure new Omnicell/Pyxis hardware including which should be stocked how the drawers should be arranged setting up max and pars and assigning medications
  • Performs principal duties and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician I
  • Complete Interdepartmental Billing for the office practices and supports the purchasing functions when needed

Education and experience requirements:

  • High school diploma required
  • Previous hospital pharmacy experience required
  • Computer experience required
  • Experience with pharmacy automation systems preferred
  • Certification as a certified pharmacy technician (PTCB) required
  • Maryland certified pharmacy technician required (for MD positions only)
  • Basic typing skills required
