JOB SUMMARY
The Aircraft Arresting System Supervisor is responsible for the operation maintenance and repair of various systems including Aircraft Arresting Systems Mobile Air Arresting Systems (MAAS) Barrier Arresting Kit 12 (BAK12 and the Textile Brake System. These systems are crucial for ensuring the safety of fighter aircraft during aborted takeoffs and inflight emergencies protecting pilots and preventing costly repairs or replacements of the aircraft. Additionally the Aircraft Arresting System Supervisor will actively support and uphold the companys vision mission and core values.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for managing the operation maintenance and repair of Aircraft Arresting Systems (MAAS BAK12 Textile Brake System).
- Will supervise all personnel assigned to the Aircraft Arresting System (AAS) section.
- Operates the operation maintenance and repair system components including hydraulic systems diesel engines rewind systems pendant cables UltraHighMolecularViscosity (UHMV) pads runway edge sheaves and Textile Brake System components.
- Schedules and perform periodic maintenance inspections in accordance with appropriate standard operating manuals.
- Adhere to preventive maintenance schedules.
- Developing and implementing local procedures and instructions for personnel engaged in AAS activities.
- Develop local training plans to thoroughly train Aircraft Arresting Systems personnel on the operation maintenance and repair systems.
- Maintaining historical records maintenance and daily logs.
- Inspects mechanical and structural system integrity and monitors operational testing of AAS according to contract specifications.
- Certifying new installations and significant maintenance repairs that may affect system alignment.
- Compare operational functioning with contract specifications to ensure serviceability and safety.
- Preparing and submitting aircraft engagement reports to appropriate agencies.
- Prepares reports of findings to facilitate modifications.
- Establish and maintain an onhand supply of critical replacement items for AAS.
- Ensure personnel comply with SGH safety health and hazard policies and procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Must have completed an approved DoD school (USAF 3E0X2 USMC 7011 USN A101 ABE) that covers the operation and maintenance of AAS or an equivalent commercial school.
- Must possess a US drivers license and be able to obtain an airfield drivers permit.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS
- Must have at least seven years of experience with operating maintaining and repairing Aircraft Arresting Systems (BAK12 Textile Brake System or similar systems).
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a supervisor.
- Must be a taskedcertified Electrical Power Production Craftsman or equivalent qualified to certify Aircraft Arresting Systems per Air Force Instruction (AFI) 321043.
- Able to work in extreme weather conditions for moderate periods.
- Able to lift to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
