Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with senior engineers to test and characterize coherent transceiver devices
  • Review specifications and understand functionality of dielevel components like PICs RF drivers TIAs.
  • Evaluate electrooptic performance of silicon photonicsbased optical subassemblies under various operating conditions
  • Run experiments and perform statistical analysis of results.
  • Create reports and present results to the R&D team.
  • Attend meetings with other R&D sites and production sites
  • Understand basics of device assembly

Education & Experience

  • Currently pursuing a Masters or PhD degree in electrical engineering optics physics materials sciences and engineering or related field.

Skills

  • Knowledge and basic understanding of fiber optics and electrical engineering concepts
  • Experience with optical and electrical equipment like voltage/current sources oscilloscopes optical power meters spectrum analyzers etc.
  • Data analysis experience with Matlab JMP Minitab or Python is desirable.
  • Understanding of semiconductor optics and radiofrequency electronics is a bonus.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and complex issues involving external and internal priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills

Working Conditions

  • This position is predominantly onsite with 40 in the office environment and 60 in the test laboratory.

Physical Requirements

  • Being able to move freely in test lab environment and operate testing equipment stacks

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to attend scheduled training follow the site EHS procedures and Corporate EHS standards. This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.

Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently. They will ensure that risk assessments are performed proper training work instructions required PPE is available and will monitor compliance.

Depending on location this position may be responsible for the and maintenance of the ISOand/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
