What youll be doing
The Compliance Department provides timely and proactive advice and independent oversight of CIBCs compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Together with the businesses the Compliance Department works to manage and mitigate regulatory risk.
As a Sr. Consultant Compliance Cards and Real Estate Lending you will report to the Senior Director Cards and Real Estate Secured Lending. The position of the Senior Consultant Compliance Cards and Real Estate Secured Lending provides specialized advice independent monitoring and oversight regarding regulatory compliance for Canadian Banking Retail Compliance for the Credit Cards and Real Estate Secured Lending. Together with the businesses the Sr. Consultant works to manage and mitigate regulatory risk primarily but not exclusivelyin support of CIBCs Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) activities.

How youll succeed
Compliance Oversight You will lead the assessment of new products services and business initiatives advising on mitigating controls (including policies/procedures) necessary to address regulatory risks risk assessment and communication of changing regulatory requirements effective and timely reporting of regulatory compliance risks and issues establishing an appropriate regulatory compliance culture and supporting the business in achieving its strategic objectives.
Regulatory Oversight You will analyze new and pending laws regulations and industry commitments that affect areas of responsibility ensuring that relevant issues and organizational risks are identified and raised for consideration by management. You will also provide advice recommendations and assistance in developing policies procedures training and communications to ensure compliance.
Issues Resolution Management You will oversee the satisfactory resolution of complex regulatory compliance issues with significant product or business implications such as implementation of new client disclosure requirements action plans to address a procedural noncompliance issues identified by external regulators etc. Ensure that all significant compliance issues such as deficiencies or regulatory risks are reported to the Senior Director the VP Compliance the Chief Compliance Officer and senior management as appropriate.
Risk Assessment You will conduct risk assessments including creating and updating Regulatory Group Topics (RGTs) in accordance with the RCM Policy and consult the current RCM library to derive insights and identify opportunities to enhance and strengthen oversight and risk mitigation of provincial regulatory obligations applying to the bank that affect areas of responsibility.

You can demonstrate 4 to 7 years of work experience in financial industry banking or related disciplines. Its an asset if you have knowledge or experience with compliance and regulatory oversight and risk management.
