Job Description

Skills Required: Should be familiar with regulations basic enforcement statutes and civil code. Effective communication and deescalation skills. Ability to build rapport with others. Able to assist lifting patients. Able to stand/walk for extended periods of time. Able to physically restrain out of control individuals. Basic computer skils which may be obtained thru on the job training. The following certifications will be required (and provided by department) within the first 612 months of employment: NonViolent Crisis Intervention Certification CardioPulmonary Resuscitation CertificationDefibrillation Certification.
Experience:
Required: None
Preferred:Previous experience working in Security Law Enforcement or Military.
Education/Degree requirements:
Staff hired 7/1/2013 or later: An Associates degree or higher with a major in police science law enforcement or criminal justice.
OR currently enrolled in an Associates degree program or higher majoring in police science law enforcement or criminal justice and must complete the degree program within a year from hire.
Staff hired prior to 7/1/2013 High School education or equivalent required.
Licensure Certifications or Registration:
Required: A valid and Current Drivers License and clean drivers record per NSMC policy which will be reviewed annually during employees employment. CPR Certification required.
SUMMARY: Reporting to the Security Supervisor the Officer performs duties as assigned to ensure a safe environment for patients visitors employees and assets on property owned or controlled by the North Shore Medical Center.

Compliance Responsibilities;
Understands and adheres to North Shore Medical Centers (NSMC) compliance standards as they appear in Corporate Compliance Policies Code of Conduct and NSMCs Policies.
Professional Supervisory and Managerial Staff keep abreast of all pertinent federal state and NSMC regulations laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Managerial Staff ensure that their staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
Job Specific Responsibilities;
Upon completion of the departments Officer In Charge Training Program may assume the role of Officer In Charge as needed.
