Job Description
Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions in Alberta serving the education needs of approximately 17950 students in 42 schools. EIPS requires individuals to work on a casual oncall basis as substitute Educational Assistants. We are looking to increase substitute support to all school locations.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
Educational Assistants (EAs) assist teachers with many instructional and noninstructional tasks in the classroom and with other school activities. EAs work as members of the school and student support team. EAs either work with a particular special needs student or a group of students within a class or in a special program. EAs may provide personal care and additional assistance for students depending on their particular needs.

Life of an Educational Assistant at EIPS
Duties will include:
- working with students individually or in small groups
- working with students with disabilities
- lifts transfers and personal care of students may be required
Education/Experience:
- Requirement: High School Diploma
- Candidates having the following qualifications would be considered an asset:
- training or experience working with students with disabilities
- behaviour management training
- courses related to working with students with special needs
- excellent interpersonal skills
- the ability to work with students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher
- the ability to provide personal care for students
- Emergency First Aid and CPR
- NonViolent Crisis Intervention Training
- Educational Assistant Certificate or comparable education
