Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for maintaining the sterile field in the operating room being constantly vigilant to see that proper aseptic techniques are utilized to prevent contamination and infection. Required to assist the surgical team as the sterile member who passes instruments sutures and sponges during complex vascular cardiovascular and cardiothoracic procedures. To include open heart procedures. Assists with prompt turnover of surgical cases case setup and proper care of surgical instruments and equipment. Performs delegated patient care duties. Receives direction from: Operating Room RN Providers Anesthesia Providers and Nursing Manager. Gives direction to: Instrument Processor.
EDUCATION:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or Surgical Tech program
EXPERIENCE:
- 23 years as a CVOR Certified Surgical Tech required
- 12 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Tech in other specialties (General Ortho Urology ENT GYN etc. preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Certification from an accredited Surgical Tech Program
- Current Montana Nursing License (LPN only)
- BLS or obtain within 6 months of hire
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Basic medical terminology and anatomy asepsis and sterile technique.
- Basic computer and keyboarding skills
- Use of usual and customer equipment used to perform essential functions of the position
