Histology Laboratory Technologist Part Time

As a Parttime Histology Laboratory Technologist with IDEXX BioAnalytics you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will perform laboratory testing that helps the scientific community to improve animal and human health. In this Role:

• You will be using microtomes processors an embedding center an automatic slide Stainer cover slipper and special stains to process tissue samples for pathologists.
• You will follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and maintain a safe working environment.

You can expect to specialize in the following areas:

• Grossing embedding microtomy staining and special staining techniques
• Accurate and timely delivery of casework (and collateral materials) to onsite and offsite pathologists
• Performing case approvals and billing of cases
• Maintaining and troubleshooting histology instruments and systems
• Performing variety of customer service activities for internal and external customers providing information resolving issues and ensuring customer satisfaction

What You Will Need to Succeed:

• You have 2 years experience working in a histology laboratory.Experience withgrossing embedding microtomy staining and special staining techniquesrequired.
• You have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues
• You are looking forward to working as part of a team
• You concentrate on the details and can work reliably and precisely
• You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility
• You possess a 4year degree in a Sciencerelated field
• It is not required to work in our lab but if you were aHistotechnician (HT) (ASCP) or a Histotechnologist (HTL) (ASCP) this experience and education would be a plus; or if you areeligible to sit for certification exam within one year.
• Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab standing and sitting for extended periods of time phone & computer use extended reach lifting up to 50lb and specific vision ability close color depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• This is a laboratory so there is potential exposure to biohazards agents known to cause zoonotic diseases and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule:

• Looking for assistance 8 hours/day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays ideally between 8:00am5:00pm CST.
• The shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.
• Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
