Masters Degree in related field (such as healthcare administration industrial engineering business nursing etc. strongly preferred. Five years healthcare experience with two in an academic medical setting preferred. Candidates must also have relevant experience using one or more performance improvement methodologies such as Toyota Production System/Lean PlanDoStudyAct (rapid cycle testing) Innovation/Deep Dive design sessions in their process redesign quality improvement and project management work. Must also be able to demonstrate effective facilitation skills within large dynamic groups.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
1. Requires skills and experience facilitating teams and understanding group dynamics.
2. Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate effectively with a wide range of departments and individuals at all levels throughout the organization.
3. Experience using a variety of improvement and redesign tools and techniques such as process mapping root cause analysis design and prototyping rapid cycle testing and change leadership.
4. Superior organizational and project management skills with ability to function effectively in a changing environment; develop timelines and meet deadlines; prioritize multiple projects; manage time efficiently.
5. Extensive experience working with administrative healthcare and clinical data preferred.
6. Skill in use of Microsoft Office applications including Word Excel Access PowerPoint and Outlook.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
No direct reports but directs staff assigned to specific projects.
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Supports the performance improvement agenda of Brigham and Womens Hospital through the facilitation of key strategic projects and work teams. Serves as an internal consultant to team leaders (department managers nurse managers physicians) for project selection and management facilitation change leadership and evaluation of improvement efforts. Provides process improvement training for leadership and teams. Employs a variety of improvement methodologies including Toyota Production System/Lean PlanDoStudyAct (rapid cycle testing) Innovation/Deep Dive design sessions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Project Management and Team Facilitation:
1. Supports the team leader in facilitating improvement teams through the life cycle of a project. Is the content expert on improvement methodologies and imparts knowledge of improvement process to team leaders and the team. Assists the team leader in identifying barriers to implementing improvement plans and developing strategy to overcome these barriers. Assists team leader in developing outcome measurement strategies and communication plans.
2. Develops the analytic and measurement strategy for all projects undertaken including development of key metrics identification of data sources and collection of baseline data.
3. Communicates regularly with team leader members and executive sponsors about team progress toward goal achievement critical factors and obstacles.
4. Rapidly identifies problemsolves and communicates to the Director of Performance Improvement and VP of APPI any issues that are interfering with project deadlines or project scope.
5. Oversees project management and logistics such as project timelines agenda development production and distribution of meeting minutes and documents and preparation of reports on project status and activities to various audiences.
6.Responsible for development of a project implementation work plan including identification of stakeholders assessment of resource needs and implementation timelines
7.Engages in special projects targeted at achieving key strategic goals at the request of senior leadership.
II. Performance Improvement Consultation and Training
1. Assesses need for and provides real time process improvement training for leadership and teams.
2. Conducts formal process improvement training forums as requested to support organizational development.
3. Participates in the orientation and training of new senior consultants and consultants.
