Job Description

The University of Rochester Medicinal Center is looking for a GI pathologist; coverage of another subspecialty (including liver) or cytopathology is possible for interested candidates.

The Anatomic Pathology Division at URMC is one of the largest in the country; its completely subspecialized surgical pathology unit accessions more than 100000 cases annually including more than 30000 GI cases. The Department as a whole performs close to 12 million tests annually with more than 1100 staff and over 70 faculty.

The Department has a robust infrastructure for supporting clinical and translational research including financial administrative and statistical support and dedicated academic time.

The Department offers comprehensive exposure. There is an AP/CP pathology residency training program and 11 fellowship positions including subspecialty fellowships in GI; URMCs largest PhD training program housed in Pathology; a NACCLSaccredited clinical medical technologist training program; training in nonlicensed roles including phlebotomy and clinical support technology and an exploratory program for high school students.

The Medical Center is a tertiary referral center for organ transplant (kidney liver heart); boasts a Level 1 trauma & burn center comprehensive neuromedicine; complex cardiology and cancer. In 2023 the School of Medicine and Dentistry received $158 million in NIH funding. The culture of the School of Medicine and Dentistry is collegial and supportive with an emphasis on teamwork. Candidates must have completed medical school having an MD MDPhD or equivalent and be board certified/eligible in Anatomic Pathology and eligible for NYS license.
