The Role
Supervise develop train programmers and operators. Set up and operate numerical control program machines to fabricate parts by performing the following duties.
What you will be responsible for:
- Mentor and supervise programmers and operators.
- Conduct training sessions for programmers and operators.
- Stay updated on industry advancements to enhance the teams capabilities.
- Ensure timely programming and set up for all new machine controls.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and department supervisors to streamline processes.
- Analyze drawings sketches and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts.
- Determine reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
- Compute angular and linear dimensions radii and curvatures. Outlines sequence of operations required to machine part.
- Prepare geometric layout on graph paper or using computerassisted drafting software to show location of reference points and direction of cutting paths.
- Ability to write instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine.
- Ability to write programs of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control tape or direct numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting path.
- Compare encoded tape or computer printout with original program sheet to assure accuracy of machine instructions.
- Revise program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
- Observe operation of machine on trial run to prove taped or programmed instructions.
- Regular attendance ability to arrive at work punctually ability to work onsite ability to work overtime.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others ability to deal respectfully with the public customers vendors other employees managers and executive management.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently ability to work in a fastpaced environment ability to interchange with others in the department.
- Plan numerical control program to control contour path machining of metal parts on automatic machine tools.
COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS (knowledge skills and abilities)
- Supervise all machining CNC programmers and operators. Ensure all new machines are programmed and commissioned to schedule.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)
- High School Diploma or General Education degree (GED) preferred. Minimum two years related experience or training.
