We Require
Three years of experience in the care and treatment of persons with mental health disorders and behavioral difficulties
High school diploma or GED
Postsecondary education may substitute for the required experience on a yearforyear basis
We Also Value
Experience in Behavioral Health
Working knowledge of the petitioning process for courtordered treatment in Maricopa County
Job Contributions
Work with the psychiatric provider staff and mental health staff to determine which patients need involuntary treatment
Observe patients identified as needing involuntary treatment for symptoms of mental illness including danger to self danger to others or symptoms indicating that the patient is persistently or acutely disabled or gravely disabled
Complete petition applications for involuntary courtordered treatment and coordinate with outpatient teams to initiate the petitioning process
Testify in court to observe patient behaviors
Identify patients who are on a court order for involuntary treatment and make that information available to provider staff
Maintain documentation for all patient contact
Assist provider staff in coordinating care with patients outpatient clinic
Working Conditions
Must complete a thorough background check
Must be able to work inside a jail environment consisting of working near inmates and other staff and indoors in a confined area handling multiple or complicated tasks
Requires accuracy decisionmaking and concentration skills to be vigilant in a teamwork environment
Performs a high volume of work under short deadlines or with time pressures to complete frequently changing and unscheduled tasks
May require travel between work locations. Teleworking hybrid schedules and weekend work may be
