Job Description
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Schedule:Full time 8hour shifts

Essential Duties:
- Oversee the cleaning and sanitizing of all food preparation equipment and ensure that it is kept in safe and operable condition.
- Submit work orders and purchase requests as needed to ensure safe functioning equipment is always available.
- Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure the work area is safe clean and always sanitary.
- Ensure count and control of all kitchen tools. Provide an accurate count of all control items at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Supervise inmates in the preparation of meals required.
- Direct and supervise inmates in the cleaning of the kitchen and dining area; mop scrub refinish and spot clean kitchen floors.
- Ensure that counts are performed accurately for all inmates assigned to the kitchen.
- Perform security functions including pat and strip searches by squatting and bending to perform such functions.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED) required.
- One 1 year fulltime wageearning correctional commercial or institutional food preparation or food service management experience.
OR
- Eighteen 18 months fulltime wageearning correctional custody or law enforcement experience.
- Must possess or be able to obtain current valid ServSafe Food Safety certification within twelve 12 months of employment date.
- Must maintain ServSafe Food Safety certification for continued employment.
- A valid drivers license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required unless waived by management.
- Must successfully complete annual background checks and inservice training requirements both of which must be approved by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
