Job Description

As an Intensive Supervision Officer youll be on the front lines of positive change helping individuals navigate challenges and connect with the resources they need to build a better future. What Youll Do:

Caseload Supervision and Case Management:

  • Participate in and successfully complete initial and recertification training for all risk/needs assessments.
  • Complete training for agencyadopted best practices in community supervision (e.g. motivational interviewing case plan development EPICS II etc..
  • Provide supervision to assigned caseload pursuant to Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) standards and agency policies and procedures.
  • Complete initial and ongoing risk/need assessments and adjust case plans as needed.
  • Utilize communication techniques that align with case plans and promote behavior change.
  • Make referrals to programs for cognitive programming job development education training substance abuse treatment mental health treatment and other necessary services.
  • Maintain all information in the applicable KDOC or Johnson County case management databases.

Client Compliance and Monitoring:

  • Evaluate and monitor client compliance performance and progress.
  • Hold clients accountable and address violations extensions transfers and terminations.
  • Prepare and file legal documents with the court.
  • Attend revocation hearings make court recommendations and testify in court.
  • Acknowledge client successes and review case files.
  • Process case files and work with team members on caseload management.
  • Conduct drug and alcohol monitoring in compliance with court orders.
  • Comply with all Kansas statutes regulations and KDOC standards.

Fieldwork and Community Engagement:

  • Conduct home workplace and community visits to:
    • Ensure Compliance: Monitor adherence to supervision conditions and identify potential violations.
    • Assess Risk and Needs: Evaluate environmental factors client behavior and support systems to address risks and barriers effectively.
    • Enhance Public Safety: Take proactive measures to mitigate risks and ensure community wellbeing.
    • Build Trust and Rapport: Foster strong professional relationships with clients to encourage transparency and accountability.
    • Provide Support: Connect clients with resources services and interventions tailored to their needs.
    • Verify Information: Confirm the accuracy of selfreported data and other relevant details.
    • Respond Promptly: Address emerging issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
    • Collaborate Effectively: Maintain regular communication with families treatment providers school staff and other key stakeholders.
    • Partner with Law Enforcement: Work alongside local law enforcement agencies to enhance supervision outcomes and address safety concerns.

Process Improvement and Data Management:

  • Make recommendations for process improvements and test new technologies.
  • Collect and input data case notes and file information into designated computer systems.
  • Create update maintain and monitor client files.
  • Prepare reports and provide information to stakeholders as required.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • You will work in the field meaning youll be out in the community working in various and unpredictable environments.
  • Ability to adapt to working in different weather conditions and manage stressful situations when needed.
  • You should have the stamina to work in dynamic environments and be physically able to engage in fieldwork effectively.
  • Vehicle operation and equipment management are also part of the role.
  • Flexibility to work nontraditional hours including some evenings and weekends.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Experience in case management counseling or social services (preferred but not required).
  • Techsavviness and adaptabilitycomfortable using digital tools and databases.
  • The ability to work in both office and field settings including home visits and court appearances with some evening and weekend hours.

Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice or related field; one 1 year criminal justice or related experience; successfully pass a criminal history check; and possess a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.

Applicant must submit to and pass a preemployment postoffer drug screen prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

One 1 year of case management experience.

Experience may be substituted for degree
