Job Description

Strategic Sourcing Specialist Information Technology

Mohawk Medbuy Corporation (MMC) is a national notforprofit shared services organization that supports hundreds of health care providers across Canada as well as child welfare agencies and other public sector organizations. MMC provides valuedriven contracting and procurement solutions for medical/surgical supplies pharmaceutical products local sourcing capital (equipment FF&E and redevelopment) and nutrition solutions. Other services include data analytics inhospital support warehousing/logistics technology procuretopay and accounts payable.

With an emerging focus on sustainability and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples MMC is actively supporting the creation of a resilient value chain that incorporates environmental social and governance best practices. Based in Burlington ON the organization also has offices in Toronto Thunder Bay Kingston Brantford London and Chatham and a distribution center in Oakville.

We are currently recruiting for a fulltime Strategic Sourcing Specialist to support our Strategic Sourcing team.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director Member Support the Strategic Sourcing Specialist for IT is responsible for providing support to lead and implement strategic sourcing processes which achieve the best possible overall value by implementing contracts for safe quality products and services. They are responsible for the workflow and prioritization of the IT portfolio. They will be the key contact for the MMC Western Region IT related procurements including hardware and software purchases.

This position should demonstrate an ethical professional and accountable manner as a liaison between Members Suppliers Internal Stakeholders and Strategic Alliances. Responsible for upholding and supporting Public Procurement laws and directives.

This role is an individual contributor and does not have direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing Initiatives:

  • Full accountability for IT strategic sourcing activities including development award and management.
  • Oversee and lead the sourcing initiative process for IT hardware and software from start to finish including contract development negotiations and management ensuring the best possible outcome. Projects assigned will be determined by complexity of the projects.
  • Establish and manage project timelines with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Conduct research of business environment in support of initiatives.
  • Manage all stakeholders through their roles and responsibilities within the sourcing initiative.
  • Provide pertinent information relating to the regulatory business environment.
  • Maintain timely and accurate reporting of the progress of RFx events in the reporting tool.
  • Preparing and presenting to all stakeholders all stages of sourcing initiatives
  • Negotiate and execute contracts.
  • Monitor business performance monthly/quarterly and implement plans required to maintain targets.
  • Crossfunctional team coordination.
  • Risk assessment/risk mitigation.
  • Contingency planning.
  • Monitoring Supplier and Member compliance if required.
  • Support category management and vendor relationship management activities as required.

Support various special projects within Strategic Sourcing such as:

  • Actively participates in developing and implementing corporate business plans and new opportunities.
  • Provide support to internal projects such as new customer growth opportunities and special projects with the Ministry of Health/Ontario Health if required.
  • Support Member Engagement with the onboarding of new members to MMC as required.
  • Provide input/assistance to large highprofile sourcing initiatives.
  • Support the development of improved processes and templates for further standardization.
  • Manage work plan reviews.
  • Collaborate with Policy and Procedures updates.

Support and contribute to other MMC initiatives and projects as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • University/Community College degree or equivalent. IT related discipline preferred.
  • Experience
    • Three 3 to five 5 years experience in a sourcing environment involving contract development and contract negotiations.
    • Two 2 years experience in strategic procurement.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize control and coordinate various activities in a fastpaced ever changing environment.
  • Knowledge/experience in materials provisioning and understanding of business and legal issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong analytical abilities and mathematical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier relationship management and supplier qualification.
  • Developing/conducting presentations advanced knowledge.
  • Project Management training.
  • Conflict resolution training.
  • Negotiation training.
  • Business writing.

Technical requirements:

  • Familiarity with online RFx software (i.e. Bonfire / Biddingo).
  • MS Office business advanced knowledge including but not limited to MS Word Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders at one time (e.g. in a meeting situation) recognizing their position as subject matter experts; demonstrated proactivity and followup skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a high level of customer service & continuous improvement.
  • Excellent process/project management skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills combined with analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier relationship management.
  • Demonstrates patience tenacity and resiliency in dealing with situations.

Preferred:

  • Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) certification completed or in progress.
  • Broader Public Sector and Ontario Public Service Procurement Directives RFx experience
  • Healthcare procurement experience
  • SAP experience

Travel

  • Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.
