Job Title: Health & Wellness Attendant

Department: Health & Wellness

Classification: Nonexempt Parttime

Reports to: Health & Wellness Director

Job Grade: 1

Pay Rate: $14.70 per hour

Position Summary
This position supports the work of the Y a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development healthy living and social responsibility. Primary responsibilities include working closely with Wellness Coaches keeping workout areas clean and safe. Build relationships with members as they work to become healthier. Help keep members safe at all times by imparting and enforcing all rules and cleaning and maintaining fitness equipment and space. For this particular opening priority will be given to applicants with availability for weekday midmornings.


Essential Functions

  • Work all scheduled shifts with strict attention to being on time

  • Oversee the facility at all times to ensure the safety of participants and security of equipment

  • Educate participants and enforce rules and regulations regarding safe and proper use of the equipment and facility

  • Familiarize participants with the safe and effective use of fitness aerobic and free weight equipment

  • Maintain equipment and report any safety or maintenance needs to the department director

  • Clean and wipe down all equipment on a regular basis as scheduled

  • Follow opening and closing procedures

  • Prepare incident and injury reports when appropriate

  • Provide a friendly upbeat and customer service environment at all times

  • Ensure a safe environment for all participants

  • Provide quality customer service for all participants

  • Obtain YMCArequired trainings including CPR/First Aid/AED and Bloodborne Pathogen Certification Youth Protection and Workplace Discrimination & Harassment Prevention (within 90 days of hire date).

  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and problemsolving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous customer service experience

  • Previous experience working at a YMCA

  • Previous experience working in a fitness center

  • Able to speak proficient conversational Spanish

  • The employee frequently is required to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment including the ability to navigate stairs

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

  • The employee may occasionally deal with confrontational community members or Y members
