Genetics Laboratory Technician

In This Role:

• You will be using different PCR techniques capillary electrophoresis machines and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that allow us to generate profiles of cell lines for authentication purposes in support of the scientific community

• You will be performing diagnostic tests on cell lines tissue samples and possible blood samples that we receive in our lab

• You will be responsible for setting up and running lab tests and reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).

• You can expect to specialize in Genetics; testing of cell lines to create a STR (short tandem repeat) profile used to authenticate a cell line performing Genetics Contamination Quality Control on rodent colonies and read sequencing reactions on unique cell lines

What Youll Need To Succeed:

• Nucleic acid extractions from several specimens types.

• Micropipetting skills.

• Ability to set up highthroughput molecular reactions specifically PCR (Polymerase Chain reaction).

• A general science background including genetics is helpful.

• 4 years degree in a Sciencerelated field is preferred

• You have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues

• You are looking forward to working in a team

• You concentrate on the details and can work reliably and precisely

• You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility

• Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab standing and sitting for extended periods phone & computer use extended reach lifting up to 50lb and specific vision ability close color depth perception and ability to adjust focus

• This is a laboratory so there is potential exposure to biohazards agents known to cause zoonotic diseases and hazardous chemicals

• The hours for this position areMonday Friday 8 am5 pm.

• The shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.
