Providedirect patient care for an assigned group of patients and also responsible forthe overall delivery of care for a specific shift on the unit. Coordinate patient assignments and delegateresponsibility to professional and nonprofessional staff members to ensure thecompletion of safe and comprehensive patient care and optimum patientsatisfaction. Act as role model andresource for staff members.

- Teamconferences and meetings are actively participated in to achieve stated goals.
- Patientassignments are made to meet patient care needs continuity and availability orresources.
- Nursing staffare assisted with communication issues that may exist between physiciansinterdepartmental team members consultations or peers to achieve resolution.
- Opencommunications are provided to Nurse Manager on major issues adverse eventsrisk management and/or deteriorating patient condition.
- Direct andindirect support is provided for nursing staff as needed.
- Nursing staffis assigned for scheduled breaks and meetings while ensuring patient needs aremet.
- Code/emergencycare check is assigned daily per established policy.
- Preceptors areassisted in the orientation of new employees to achieve performance goals.
- Professionalquality improvement activities are participated in to achieve unit goals.
- Staffadherence to regulatory guidelines is evaluated and staff is supported to makeany necessary adjustments in compliance.
- Additionaldepartment organization or network activities are completed per establishedobjectives.
