Primary ObjectivesThe Patient Registration Specialist a key linelevel position responsible for administering the day to day activities of the business office including maintenance of the records of patients scheduling of patients preparing claim forms for patients with dental insurance handling the process of referrals to Contract Health Services and confirming appointments for the next day. Essential Functions- Checks in patients according to the office protocol verifying and updating patient information.
- Collects payments from patients for any lab fees.
- Gathers and accurately record insurance information from patients.
- Updates insurance information on all patients and works followup on insurance claims.
- Ensure all records are stored securely and handled in compliance with HIPPA privacy and security regulations.
- Greets and welcomes patients to the practice.
- Schedules patients for all dental providers maximizing efficient use of time.
- Participates in staff meetings.
- Makes corrections as necessary to improve the Patient Registration System.
- Collects third party recipient health cards obtains photocopies of the card and explains the program to the beneficiaries: i.e. why Medicare Medicaid and/or private/commercial insurance will be billed for the services they received at the IHS facility.
- Helps file and reconcile insurance claims.
- Obtains signatures for file on required form for alternate resources and contract health services prior to patients being seen in the clinic for billing purposes and/or contract health services eligibility.
- Confirm next day appointments according to protocol.
- Manages scheduling for the dental department referrals and laboratory cases.
- Greets patients to the dental area.
- Assures appropriate entry into the patient care delivery system routing patients to points of service(s).
- Activates the careencounter via the RPMS/ PCC/EHR data system.
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate person.
Job Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must maintain current professional licensure in Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain licensure within ninety 90 days of date of hire.
- Two 2 years of dental office employment experience required. One 1 year employment experience in medical reception duties preferred.
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours as needed.
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Must possess a valid state drivers license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training leadership development and other events.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
Core Competencies Required- Absolute confidentiality adhering to HIPAA guidelines and the Privacy Act.
- Must have a working knowledge of computers and electronic health records with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Microsoft Office software and etc.
- Familiarity with the cultural factors relative to the care of Native Americans preferred.
- Ability to work in a highperformance fastpaced highpressure environment.
- Adept at multitasking have unquestionable integrity with an uncompromising commitment to quality.
- Must be people oriented and relate well to people from diverse backgrounds.

Compensation and Benefits- The starting pay will depend on factors such as experience level and skillset.
