Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE) is a private nonprofit graduatelevel health sciences institution located on over 500 acres in Fort Smith Arkansas. About Fort Smith and the Arkansas River Valley
Fort Smith is a vibrant community of around 90000 with a low cost of living and ample recreational opportunities. Located in the beautiful Arkansas River Valley at the foothills of the Ozark mountains Fort Smith is nestled between the OzarkSt. Francis and Ouachita National Forests. The region provides hiking mountain biking rock climbing hang gliding whitewater rafting and camping all within a short drive. In addition the city supports a variety of cultural attractions including museums theaters an awardwinning symphony and two historic entertainment districts.
JOB SUMMARY
The professor in the School of Occupational Therapy is responsible for educating entrylevel occupational therapy professionals pursing a Doctor of Occupational Therapy. The professor engages in scholarly activities contributing to the schools agenda and advancing the profession. The professor provides service to the school college and professional communities. In all areas the professor contributes to the advancement of ACHEs mission. (Rank will be determined by qualifications and experience).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and deliver courses assigned in the faculty members area of expertise
- Adhere to accreditation standards
- Provide advisement with students in accordance with schools standards
- Supervise graduate student scholarship endeavors
- Maintain acceptable teaching effectiveness in accordance with schools standards
- Meet administrative deadlines such as those for submitting course syllabi student course evaluations grades and program evaluation data
- Contribute to program and curriculum development and assessment
- Contribute to the schools scholarship agenda in accordance with schools benchmarks
- Participate actively in assignments necessary to advance the service and/or outreach missions of the school such as school college and Ache committees and professional endeavors
- Demonstrate collegial relationships with colleagues supervisors support staff and students
- Demonstrate the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior in all aspects of personal and professional actions and performance
- Maintain and uphold a professional development plan that advances the prestige of the school college and ACHE that is consistent with accreditation requirements and academic promotion criteria
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- A doctorate in occupational therapy or related field awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE recognized regional accrediting body. (Applicants with an anticipated date of completion by the start date may be considered.
- Initially certified occupational therapist and licensed or eligible for license by the Arkansas State Medical Board
- Documented experience in an area of teaching responsibility and knowledge of content delivery method (e.g. documentation of continuing professional development relevant experience faculty development plan reflecting acquisition of new content incorporation of feedback from course evaluations etc.
- Demonstrated (or potential to demonstrate) ongoing scholarly achievement and research expertise
- Expertise necessary to ensure appropriate curriculum design content delivery and program evaluation
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership and productivity in the areas of clinical or professional service scholarly activity and/or occupational therapy education
Required knowledge skills and abilities
- Demonstrate a breadth and depth of knowledge in an area(s) of occupational therapy education practice and/or research
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the delivery of occupational therapy education in the classroom/laboratory and in practice settings for students
- Demonstrate knowledge of varied educational delivery formats
- Demonstrate ability to mentor students
- Demonstrate leadership organizational and time management skills
- Display professionalism in all communication and interaction
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy
- Ability to prioritize and organize numerous and varied assignments
- Exhibit highenergy and versatility; selfdirected
- Adhere to the policies and procedures set forth by ACHE
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office

- Requires attendance at events representing ACHE both within as well as outside of the university setting
- Frequently required to work at a desk conference table or in meetings of various configurations
- Frequently required to see for purposes of reading matter
- Frequently required to hear and understand speech at normal levels
- Occasionally required to lift items in a normal office environment
- Frequently required to operate office and presentation equipment
