Bachelors degree and an interest in healthcare and the use of technology to support clinical care.

Experience in clinical research setting; prior RA experience preferred.

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Research Assistant (RA) will assist with several research projects. The RA will use MS Access Excel RedCap and other programs to support these projects by creating and maintaining databases and cleaning datasets and will be expected to communicate with the study vendor(s) and study staff during weekly meetings. The RA will support dissemination of findings by assisting with drafting manuscripts for publication. The RA will support all activities associated with the of research plans including Internal Review Board (IRB) submissions regular progress reports to the sponsor organization and organizing communication with stakeholders and project staff. The RAs responsibilities will also include administrative tasks and literature searches. The RA will need excellent attention to detail and critical thinking skills and requires strong communication and organizational skills.

In affiliation with the Division of General Internal Medicine and Primary Care (DGIM) the RA will have numerous voluntary opportunities for training and career development. DGIM holds a monthly medical seminar for RAs with review of clinical case studies and special topics a monthly RA journal club a research skills and data management training series and DGIM Research Day an annual forum for RAs to showcase their contributions via oral and poster presentations and promote professional development through a career panel discussion.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for data collection as needed for implementation of quality improvement programs and evaluation of study endpoints both via chart abstraction and implementation of surveys

Responsible for database management: create input data query import/export and restructure database forms and queries as needed to meet the study teams needs.

Utilize MS Access REDCap and Excel to assist in data collection efforts database development and descriptive data analysis. (Inhouse MS Access and REDCap training is available.

Prepare weekly and monthly reports that track project progress.

Assist with preparing forms for approval from the Internal Review Board (IRB) for study protocols.

Perform literature searches and syntheses.

Help with the preparation of talks and presentation materials including PowerPoint slides tables and graphs.

Assist with the preparation of formal research reports and manuscripts for publication in professional journals and presentation at national/international conferences.

Meet weekly with investigators to go over the progress of projects.

Organize project meetings as well as record and distribute project minutes to the research team.

Photocopying electronic mailing receiving and sending mail faxing and other administrative duties as required.
