Summary


King County Metro Transits Rail division is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic handsonRail Facilities Custodian!

Link Light RailMetro Transits Rail Division is responsible for operating and maintaining Link Light Rail service on a 20 plus mile route from the Angle Lake Station south of SeaTac Airport to the Northgate station in North Seattle. Plans and/or construction are underway extending the system to the north east south and west. Expansion over the next five years alone will include the addition of more than 20 stations and 40 miles of light rail track. The light rail line is a critical part of the regions transportation network and carries more than 79000 weekday daily riders.

King County Metro Rail Facilities is looking for a dependable detailorientedRail Facilities Custodianto be a contributing member of the Rail Facilities Management team. In this role you will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning tasks and general labor tasks to create and maintain a safe clean and orderly environment for our Metro Transit staff and the general public. Our ideal candidate has professional cleaning experience as well as a positive attitude and is passionate about helping Metro Transit provide a clean safe experience for our community.

Vacancy Information
This recruitment will be used to fill one current career service vacancy and may be used to establish a list to fill future opportunities that may occur over the next twelve months at the hiring managers discretion. This career service position is open to the general public and to current King County career service employees.

Work Schedule: This position is nonexempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible.This position will work Day Shift 1st shift). Note: Per the union contract shift differential is paid to those working second and third shifts. Shift pay is 5 for second shift and 7.5 for third shift on top of hourly pay. The normal workweek is five 8hour shifts per week with two consecutive days off but not necessarily weekends off. This is considered to be an essential position and is required to report to work during adverse weather and/or other urgent/emergency needs.

Current hourly rates are:
Day shift: $22.37 $23.27 $33.24
2nd shift (swing): $24.43 $34.90
3rd shift (night shifts): $25.02 $35.73

Locations
Employees may report to any of the following locations: Operations and Maintenance Facility Central at 3407 Airport Way S Seattle WA the new Eastside campus Operations and Maintenance Facility atth Ave NE Bellevue WAor any other locations that may be added in the alignment.

  • A valid Washington State Drivers License and an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
  • Constantly lift carry and move objects of less than 25 pounds.
  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Work at heights reaching up to 40 feet.
  • Walk continuously throughout the workday.
Working Environment
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and in inclement weather.
