Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of a High School diploma GED or equivalent experience.

Minimum six months applicable work experience required.

Some additional training in office systems or other post high school education preferred.

Ambulatory care experience a plus but not required.

Primary care experience a plus but not required.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Customer focused and patientcentered.

Enjoys being part of a diverse team.

Ability to multitask.

Comfortable with change.

Experience with motivational interviewing a plus but not required.

Knowledge and understanding of:

Practice operations and standards.

Basic understanding of office procedures including filing copying scanning printing and faxing.

Understanding of the appropriate use and importance of related forms.

Basic understanding and use of medical terminology.

Basic comprehension of insurance types and referral process.

Basic comprehension of registration and fiscal information.

Phone skills: ability to use phone system answer and screen calls put calls on hold.

Verbal skills: ability to answer questions and give information as appropriate and communicate in a professional courteous clear and concise manner.

Writing skills: basic use of email ability to take accurate and complete messages.

Organization skills: ability to manage work processes in a neat and orderly way and to sort and to sort and alphabetize. Ability to follow instructions.

System skills: basic computer literacy and understanding of office systems ability to type and enter data.

Information technology:

Documenting patient interactions

Electronic Medical Record (Epic)

Percipio

Knowledgeable and compliant with all hospital State and Federal requirements (where applicable to job performance) including policy and procedures with The Joint Commission and HIPAA.

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Brigham and Womens Primary Care Associates at Norwood is an Internal Medicine practice locating in Norwood Massachusetts. Our goal is to create an environment that maximally fosters healing relationships between patients and their health care team while supporting an outstanding educational experience for future members of that healthcare team. The practice tests innovative models of primary care delivery. We as a practice are continuously improving in a way that is accessible to being evaluated and disseminated. The practice will move towards being certifiable at the highest level as a PatientCentered Medical Home.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform entry level administrative skills under general supervision.

Answer and transfer telephone calls.

Schedule and register patients for appointments/procedures confirm appointments/procedures prepare patient for the visit by providing the patient with all necessary information and completing all necessary tasks.

Receive patient arrival verify and obtain all necessary information and ensure forms are completed.

Ensure all billing/fiscal information is completed and submitted after visit including collection and daily reconciliation of any copayments.

Assisting with training and orienting staff as needed.

Assist with special projects as directed.

Follow HIPAA guidelines for the management of patient privacy and confidentiality

Participate in process improvement groups.

Participate in trainings in respect to care coordination supporting patients in selfmanagement selfefficacy and behavior change patient population management and communication skills as directed and required for the role.

Extended and/or weekend hours may be required.

Assist coworkers in their duties (within the limitations of training and scope of practice).

Staff are expected to participate in regular team meetings as well as ongoing continuous improvement efforts.

All other duties as prescribed.
