About the Job

Position Summary:

Hitachi Astemo Americas Inc. (Findlay Plant) is a Tier 1 supplier of brake systems for automotive and nonautomotive applications. The Quality Engineer is responsible for quality assurance activities to insure quality standards for production. This position coordinates with: Operations Customers and Suppliers Sales other Engineering personnel Technicians and Corporate support.

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • PPAP process (Establishing requirements gathering documentation Validating the process and final approval).
  • Developing Control Plans and FMEAs.
  • Understanding of CPK and CP / able to interpret data.
  • Working knowledge of the IATF16949 technical standard.
  • Knowledge of establishing process controls (Poke yokes Check frequencies etc..
  • Establish layered audits / Perform audits of processes (internal).
  • Experience working with Automotive OEMs (inperson on phone and via Email).
  • Understanding of Blue print tolerance.
  • Working knowledge of measurement tools (Calipers Micrometers and general hand gauges).
  • Ability to use a CMM Faro arm or other programmable measurement device.
  • Ability to organize data to make recommended action to senior management
  • Formal problem solving experience 5P / 8D or equivalent).
  • Supervise a team of 4 associates on 3 shifts
  • Work with production team on continual improvement activity related to cost reduction

Required Qualifications:

  • 35 years of experience in manufacturing with strong familiarity of automotive quality.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Motivated self starter with the ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic Knowledge of assembly process.
  • Basic knowledge of machining process.
  • Basic Knowledge of Aluminum Casting process
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering
