JOB SUMMARY:
A key member of the Advancement team the Associate Director Planned Giving works
directly with the Senior Director Planned Giving and Development Operations to build a robust planned giving program. The position plays a key role in developing a pipeline of planned gifts to support American Rivers mission through marketing identification qualification cultivation solicitation and stewardship of planned giving donors. This position is also responsible for the administration of estate gifts from notification through closure. Travel up to 10 for staff retreats trainings conferences and professional development opportunities as needed is required


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop execute and analyze multichannel marketing strategy to generate planned gift leads. Ensure the American Rivers planned giving website is regularly updated and linked throughout main website where appropriate.
Promptly fulfill requests for information respond to inquiries and maintain portfolio of planned gift prospects.
Collaborate with Senior Director and Development colleagues to integrate planned giving goals in appropriate fundraising activities i.e. major gifts midlevel giving membership and with Communications and Marketing colleagues in outgoing marketing materials. Develop and implement strong strategies for qualification cultivation and solicitation of planned gift prospects.
Develop and implement comprehensive engagement and stewardship strategies for planned gift donors through the River Legacy Society a recognition society for donors who have included American Rivers in their estate plans.
Increase value of planned gift pipeline by increasing size of the River Legacy Society through new documented planned gift commitments.
Work with development operations general counsel and finance teams to ensure that all planned gifts are appropriately reviewed processed and acknowledged.
Maintain regular communication with estate representatives to ensure gifts are closed accurately and efficiently. Ensure financial reports of open estates are obtained and tracked for annual valuation.
Maintain and continually update all planned giving files and constituent records.
Provide regular updates and reports on planned giving program status and progress.
Develop annual program budget. Request and approve expenditures requisitions and invoices within budget and internal thresholds.
Participate in annual and strategic development planning to continuously enhance fundraising efforts and donor engagement.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and ethical standards
Performs related duties as required


MINIMUM QUALIFACTIONS:
Advanced degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant fundraising experience or an appropriate combination of education and experience with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively efficiently and accurately; and prioritize competing tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision.
Experience with donor databases and knowledge of or willingness to learn specialized software.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships both internal and external to the organization and at every level including a commitment to forming connections with constituents that are collaborative and multifaceted.
Ability to make strong decisions that are informed ethical strategic and have a positive impact.
Demonstrated computer proficiency including experience using Microsoft Office applications Adobe Sign and other paperless management tools.
Openness to new ideas and their implementation.
Ability to react and adapt to changing situations appropriately.

COMPENSATION

American Rivers offers marketable compensation that reflects the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The salary range for this position is $68719$76365 annually depending on experience and qualifications.

We provide a comprehensive Total Rewards package to our fulltime regular employees including:
