We are looking for a dedicated OT Therapist like you to join our Lubbock Heart team.

What You Will do in this Role:

  • Physiological Knowledge Health Promotion and Maintenance Creating a Safe Effective Environment Motivating Others Legal Compliance Quality Focus Bedside Manner Clinical Skills Pain Management Persistence Energy Level
  • Meet the patients goals and needs and provide quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
  • Help patient develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities by implementing programs involving manual arts and crafts practice in functional prevocational vocational and homemaking skills activities of daily living and sensorimotor educational recreational and social activities directing aides technicians and assistants.
  • Promote maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to individuals physical capacity intelligence level and interest.
  • Prepare patient for return to employment by consulting with employers; determining potential employee difficulties; retraining employees; helping employers understand necessary physical and job result accommodations.
  • Evaluate results of occupational therapy by observing noting and evaluating patients progress recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications.
  • Complete discharge planning by consulting with physicians nurses social workers and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences.
  • Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients families and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending outpatient or home health followup programs.
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect hospital operations by keeping confidential information.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures rules and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infectioncontrol policies and protocols.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturers instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Develop and conduct inservice training programs.
  • Comply with federal state and local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy.
  • Unrestricted and current state of Texas licensure required.
  • Masters Degree preferred
  • BLS required.
  • 35 years experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Your Shift: PRN (shifts will be MonFri 8am5pm as needed)

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac orthopedic nephrology urology and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic orthopedic urology and general surgery. We have a 24hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms 4 fully operating OR rooms 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room 11day surgery rooms 58 acute care beds spread over three units and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. We pride ourselves on giving the best overall care possible to our patients and on our family style atmosphere that includes everyone: patients and their families physicians and our employees.
