Bachelor of Science degree in biological/physical science or equivalent required.
2 years related experience.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Requires good analytical and organizational skills; an eye for detail.
Demonstrated ability to analyze data using statistics and logically represent it.
Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
On own initiative ability to identify problems and troubleshoot problems as necessary.
Ability to work under very general supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal laboratory environment.
Exposure to solvents and chemical reagents and potential exposure to infectious agents all under controlled conditions. Minimal risk when proper procedures and protocols are followed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None. Assist in training and orientation of new personnel.
GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
He is responsible for molecular biology such as cloning mutagenesis ChipChip RNAseq cellbased assay such as making reporter cell lines and animal experiments such as breeding tissue obtaining geneotyping and tissue cultures. He is also assisting ordering and maintaining of the laboratory.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.After discussions with the P.I. plan the week to execute protocols for research experiments. Make suggestions for what tasks need to be accomplished in the laboratory for the week.
2.Design and perform experiments related to molecular biology experiments and cellbased assays such as making reporter cell lines immunohistochemistry assess organ functions and analyze results.
3.Assist in the basic design and modification of PCR techniques for genotyping genetically engineered animals. Genotyping animals by Southern blot analysis. Organize and maintain colonies of genetically engineered animals.
4.Analyzing Chipseq RNAseq data
5.Perform all independent literature searches as needed.
6.Assist in the training of other personnel.
7.Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment. Order new supplies and equipment.
8.Maintain established department policies procedures and objectives including such areas as quality assurance safety environmental and infection control.
9.Perform all other duties and responsibilities as directed.
