Background:
The Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Community Health Improvement (MGH CCHI) seeks a detailoriented enthusiastic individual to join the Evaluation and Strategic Support Team. The MGH CCHI is committed to carrying out the 4th leg of the hospitals mission to improve the health and wellbeing of the diverse communities we serve. The Center collaborates with local communities to identify and address their health needs using tailored evidencebased approaches to achieve measurable results and improve health status. The Evaluation and Strategic Support Team works with the Centers initiatives to ensure they are meeting their goals in a realistic and measureable way assess changing population needs and provide support around data collection management analysis and reporting.
Responsibilities:
Participate as a member of the evaluation and research team to lead the Coalition Evaluation work including strategic planning. Additionally colead the community health needs assessment in the communities the MGH CCHI works.
Under supervision and guidance of the Director of Evaluation manage evaluation and strategic planning activities for MGH CCHIs Coalitions:
General Duties
Manage evaluation processes for centerwide programs and initiatives and lead specific evaluation activities for coalitions/partnerships in multiple communities.
Participate as a member of the MGH CCHI Evaluation and Strategic Support team. Attend regular meetings to update the team on coalition initiatives and work with the team to help improve processes around evaluation research and assessment.
Manage and guide interns working with the MGH CCHI Evaluation Team.
Maintain relationships with the MGH community as well as community leaders.
Lead the Coalition Evaluation Area of Responsibility (AoR)
Coalition Evaluation Area of Responsibility:
Expand prioritize and streamline CCHIs Coalition evaluation.
Develop and maintain consistency across all coalitions following and maintaining the coalition evaluation plan.
Establish regular communication and reporting between evaluation and coalition staff for the purposes of QA/QI and coalition impact.
Collaborate with YRBS and Community Data leads to utilize relevant community data.
Apply best practice in evaluation methodology.
Participate in strategic planning with coalition staff the Associate Director for the Center and the Director of Evaluation
Colead the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) every 3 years in the communities the Center works with.
- Prepare PowerPoint presentations and reports attend and present at conferences and initiate and write manuscripts for peer reviewed journals.
Strong candidates for this position will demonstrate the following characteristics:
- Work experience in the field of evaluation preferably coalition evaluation.
- Strong interest and knowledge in community health and the social correlates of health.
- Knowledge of collective impact; the strategic prevention framework; CDC Health Impact Pyramid; policy systems and environmental change strategies; and the healthy coalitions model
- Working knowledge of community and social science research methods
- Strong relationshipbuilding skills with experience communicating to various audiences while demonstrating crosscultural sensitivity
- Familiarity with at least one database system (e.g. ACCESS or Efforts to Outcomes) preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) required
- Experience with basic quantitative analysis; ability to perform descriptive analysis and utilize computer statistical software programs such as SPSS preferred; qualitative analysis skills a plus
- Ability to collect public health data from online databases a plus (e.g. Census MassCHIP)
- Experience with creating and administering surveys conducting interviews and focus groups and other primary data collection skills
- Effective organization and project management skills combined with flexibility attention to detail and multitasking
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and interact with all levels of hospital staff and community members a must
- Experience in data visualization and infographics a plus
- Ability to laugh at ones self a must.
Bachelors Degree required Masters Degree preferred; 23 years of evaluation experience preferred.
