Job Description

Job Summary:

The Payroll Coordinator works under the general supervision of the Payroll Director coordinating and performing a wide range of complex payroll recordkeeping reconciliation reporting processing and systems administration responsibilities in support of the Colleges payroll function.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and execute all endtoend payroll processes for biweekly and monthly payrolls using Ellucian Banner and TimeClock Plus timekeeping systems. This includes preparing documenting and disbursing payroll checks direct deposits payroll taxes and retirement plan contributions.
  • Serve as the system administrator for the timekeeping system handling the setup and maintenance of employee accounts labor account assignments access rights and troubleshooting issues.
  • Communicate payroll deadlines and requirements to the campus community.
  • Train end users on payroll policies procedures and timekeeping protocols and systems.
  • Coordinate pay period close activities audit electronic timesheets edit and provide timecard assistance to end users.
  • Review and audit payroll registers.
  • Assist in preparing payroll tax filings.
  • Process and remit payroll deduction payments to various third parties.
  • Address employee payroll inquiries.
  • Create and run data queries and reports using desktop database and report writer software.
  • Assist with maintaining Ellucian Banner HRIS system and records.
  • Compose correspondence memos and reports.
  • Provide administrative support for Risk Management and Workers Compensation Claims.
  • Reconcile accounts process vendor invoices review travel expense reports for candidates assist faculty and staff with relocation advances and expenses.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining the Team Dynamix (TDX) website.

Minimum
Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelors degree in business payroll or related area or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least two years of jobrelated experience.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of payroll practices and regulations.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and related word processing spreadsheet database and presentation software applications.
  • Knowledge of office budgeting and accounting methods and practices.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Strong organization skills ability to manage time effectively and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Work Environment:

  • Campusbased frontfacing position and working in an office environment.
  • Work requires visual strain and the use of a computer.
  • Overtime (including holidays) may be required to meet business needs.
