Salary Range: $37.00/hr $56.00/hr
Position Summary:
The Physical Therapist will provide direct patient care to help restore patients function alleviate pain and prevent disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed physical therapy. This PT will be seeing outpatients and inpatients: ortho neuro vestibular wound care geriatric a few pediatric patients.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to professional ethical and legal standards of practice.
- Meets the patients goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determine physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with providers or by prescription.
- Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices by administering manual exercises; instructing encouraging and assisting patients in performing physical activities such as nonmanual exercises ambulatory functional activities and dailyliving activities and in using assistive and supportive devices such as crutches canes and prostheses.
- Administers physical therapy treatments through physical and modality agents and directing/supervising treatments given by physical therapy assistants.
- Evaluates effects of physical therapy treatments and fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices by observing noting and evaluating patients progress; recommends adjustments and modifications.
- Completes discharge planning by consulting with providers nurses social workers and other health care workers; contributes to patient care conferences.
- Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients families and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending equipment or community programs or further services.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential. Adheres to all HIPAA and privacy laws.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures rules and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to all hospital policies and procedures including infectioncontrol policies and protocols.
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturers instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Education/Experience:
- Graduate from an accredited program of physical therapy
- Current Illinois Physical Therapy license in good standing required.
- Two years of previous experience preferred. Ability to plan implement administer and coordinate a physical therapy program from eligibility determination to exit. Ability to select and administer appropriate assessment tools and interpret results of assessment.
