This position will be assigned to Calvin Coolidge School for theschool year. The school nurse position is paid on the negotiated teacher scale. Preferred candidates should hold a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Massachusetts (M.G.L. c.71 s.53 a School Nurse license through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education current CPR certification AED training from a recognized provider (such as the American Red Cross or American Heart Association) a strong knowledge and demonstrated skill in working with children of elementary school age and a desire to be part of a collaborative school community.Qualified candidates with diverse racial ethnic cultural religious class and/or gender background and experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.Benefits eligible position.Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Manages and coordinates health services for students within the school setting while interacting with their educational goals personal health and public health needsOrganizes and implements statemandated programs such as immunization surveillance and screening programs. Completes and submits state mandated reports and surveys as required by the Massachusetts Department of Public HealthPromotes positive safety practices within and outside of the school building and ensures that the school has an effective medical emergency planRides the bus and provides medical care as neededAssesses children for a wide range of physical and behavioral illnesses and develops programs to prevent the spread of disease and promote wellnessProvides medically prescribed interventions including medication administration and treatments. Provides first aid/emergency care to students and staffCollaborates with parents community health care providers and agenciesMaintains comprehensive and confidential health records for students which are in compliance with federal state and local regulations.
