Role purpose

The Health and Safety Advisor works closely with other Health and Safety team members (Senior Advisors Coordinators etc. and the wider Delivery Team to ensure the effective implementation support and monitoring of Health and Safety requirements across the package and the wider Alliance.

The Health and Safety Advisor plays an important role in the successful implementation and maintenance of the Alliances health and safety culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the Implementation the EBTA Health and Safety Management Plans and all associated sub plans.
  • Play an active part in the ongoing implementation and development of the EBTA culture and continually live by and champion the Alliance values.
  • Provide coaching mentoring and guidance to relevant members of the delivery team on all matters pertaining to Health and Safety
  • Ensure relevant delivery team members are aware of their individual responsibilities and those of the Alliance associated to Health and Safety including system contractual and legislative.
  • Participate in the development audit schedules and assist in the undertaking of H&S audits and support the project in developing and closing out any actions arising.
  • Understand and implement H&S legislation and associated EBTA processes and procedures.
  • Able to complete supervise and mentor accident investigations up to and including Potential Class 2.
  • Play an active part in the completion of detailed potential class 1 (ICAM) incident investigations.
  • Assist with preparation of SWMS and Construction Method Statements to encompass the relevant construction processes.
  • Conduct risk assessment workshops and play an influencing role in the effective application of the Alliances risk management process.
  • Monitor compliance
  • Identify H&S training needs and develop and deliver H&S training so that all staff consultants and supply chain are aware of their H&S obligations
  • Ensure accurate and up to date documentation and information relating to H&S is collected reported disseminated and stored in a manner that improves H&S communication across the Project.
  • Monitor and conduct regular H&S governance activities within the project sites including:
    • Collective Insights
    • Positive investigations
    • FSRs
    • Audits
    • Inspections
    • Reporting breaches
    • Recommending and assisting in the close out of remedial actions
  • Facilitate training and other information providing sessions across the project.
  • Deliver safety related messages to the workforce across daily prestart meetings and other forums when required.
  • Support and assist with the Damstra system implementation and compliance.
  • Provide focus and support around all aspects of quality and completions to drive a culture of quality accountability and ownership.
  • Proactively deal with H&S and concerns by engaging with the people performing the task or activity.
  • Have a strong ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider H&S team.

  • Foster strong relationships with key role stakeholders i.e. Supervision Engineering workforce etc. to ensure a positive proactive and valuable safety presence is maintained.
  • Foster a strong team mentality across the H&S space ensuring a shared mindset and working towards common outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of respect for the environment and communities in which we work to minimise impacts.
