The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho we are seeking a Global Head Privacy to support building QuidelOrthos global compliance program. The Global Head Privacy is responsible for leading and overseeing the companys global privacy strategy ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

This position requires a Juris Doctor (JD) and is designed for an experienced privacy attorney with expertise in data protection laws regulatory compliance and transactional privacy matters. This role will require collaboration with crossfunctional teams and leaders including legal compliance IT security and business units to establish policies frameworks and best practices for data privacy and protection and serve as SME providing practical businessfocused guidance.

This position is remote eligible with HQ in San Diego CA. Candidates local to San Diego is preferred for some onsite presence.

The Position

• Privacy Leadership & Strategy: Lead a team of privacy professionals to establish and maintain privacy policies procedures and governance frameworks to protect personal and sensitive data.
• Privacy Legal Advisor: Act as the companys primary privacy legal expert advising executive leadership and stakeholders on data protection risk strategies and compliance requirements.
• Transactional Privacy Support: Provide legal guidance on and negotiate data processing agreements crossborder data transfers and privacy provisions in transactional (commercial distribution & procurement) contracts to ensure compliance with GDPR HIPAA CCPA and other relevant regulations.
• Technology & Vendor Due Diligence: Oversee the development and implementation of technological solutions to support efficient and effective privacy compliance including automated systems for privacy due diligence vendor risk assessments and data processing reviews during onboarding. Advise on AI LLM usage integration of 3rd party products and management of privacy issues. Partnering with R&D and business units to enable privacy by design for new platforms/software.
• Privacy Risk & Compliance: Strategize architect develop create and lead innovative solutions to strengthen data classification and management privacy impact assessments and data protection impact assessments to consistently manage and reduce operational risk.
• Cybersecurity & Incident Response: Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to enhance data protection measures cyber product testing incident response protocols and regulatory reporting for data breaches.
• Training & Awareness: Implement privacy training and awareness programs to foster a culture of compliance and accountability across all levels of the organization.
• Regulatory & Data Subject Requests: Manage data subject rights requests oversee responses to regulatory inquiries and ensure timely and compliant responses to data breaches. Support any regulatory privacy or cyber submissions in collaboration with IT.
• Audits & Continuous Improvement: Conduct internal privacy audits and compliance assessments to identify and address gaps in data handling practices.
• Perform other workrelated duties as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

• Hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.
• A minimum of 15 years of experience in data privacy compliance or regulatory roles
• Strong knowledge of global privacy laws and regulatory frameworks including GDPR HIPAA CCPA and ISO 27701 and evolving legislation worldwide
• Experience leading and developing an enterprisewide global privacy program
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with crossfunctional and global teams and influence stakeholders
• Strong analytical problemsolving and project management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to translate
  complex privacy concepts into actionable business guidance
• Experience leading a team of global privacy professionals
• Ability to travel up to 25

Preferred:

• Masters Degree in Information Technology
• Experience in the medical device healthcare or technology industries
• Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or equivalent preferred

The Work Environment

No strenuous physical activity though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30 of time in meetings working with team or talking on the phone 70 of the time at the desk on computer doing analytical work. Minimal travel required. Travel includes airplane automobile travel and overnight hotel.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education experience knowledge skills geography and abilities of the candidate in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $235000 to $270000 and is bonus eligible.
