Speech Language Pathologist

The Burlington School District is seeking a passionate and energetic Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our school committed to high levels of achievement of all students at. This position requires working with a caseload of students with language development needs from diverse backgrounds. Planning and providing speechlanguage pathology services to students with speech voice or language disorders. Additionally assessing students and providing therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with students ability to derive full benefit from the educational program. Applicants must be dedicated to the belief and desire for the inclusion of all students and eager to be a member of a high energy fastpaced dedicated team as well as individual student teams in support of student success for all.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Job Requirements:

    • Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
    • Endorsement in Speech Language Pathology 84 or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
    • Clinical SLP License from the VT Office of Professional Regulations
    • Currently qualified or eligible for CCC.
    • CF Candidates are also encouraged to apply. Supervision is available.
    • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required Qualifications:

    • Experience in effectively working with and casemanaging up to 40 students with a variety of speech and language needs in oneonone and small group settings.
    • Ability to diagnose and assess language development needs of 3035 other students per year.
    • Experience supporting students with social cognition behavioral and social emotional needs.
    • Training and/or experience working with students that access augmentative and alternative

      communication (AAC)

    • Current knowledge and experience with Speech and Language assessments and determining eligibility according to the state level special education regulations and IDEA.
    • Experience training and supervising paraeducators providing support services to special needs students.
    • Experience in planning leading and managing large and potentially complex IEP meetings with students parents teachers outside agencies community mentors and other support people.
    • Understanding of Cultural Competency (as explained through Essay 1 on SchoolSpring).
    • Knowledge of best practices regarding frameworks of student behavioral support.

Preferred Attributes:

    • Training and/or experience with English Language Learners.
    • Experience in a professional/teaching learning community; experience in coteaching/collaborating with other educators.
    • Evidence of studentcentered learning approaches including personalizing instruction and supporting students meeting core proficiencies
    • Training and/or experience in neurodiversityaffirming practices.
    • Ongoing educational post graduate coursework in education or subject area including diversity equity and inclusion.
