POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists the Accounts Payable Manager with the efficient and effective functioning of all areas of the Accounts Payable Department. Works collaboratively with all schools departments and outside vendors to ensure that all financial responsibilities are paid accurately and on time using standard accounting principles and district policies. This position reports to the Accounts Payable Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with the management of the Accounts Payable function for the district. Assists with the preparation issuance and distribution of vendor payments for the district. Supports all aspects of the Accounts Payable functions processes vendor payments ensures accurate receipts deposits and posting of revenue etc. Assists the Accounts Payable Manager with approving purchase orders (PO) and check requests epayables and best practices.
Processes payments of system wide invoices purchase transactions registration fees and travel reimbursements. Posts al payroll and benefits to the general ledger. Assists the Accounts Payable Manager with the month end and year end close process; ensures that all invoices are posted and properly reconciled.
Communicates corresponds and resolve discrepancies with vendors on the payment of invoices for all system locations.
Assists in the preparation of 1099s to include the proper reporting to the Internal Revenue Service. Posts all payroll and benefits to the general ledger.
Identifies streamlines and implements best practices as it relates to Accounts Payable and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Implements best practices as it relates to vendor payments.
All other duties as assigned and required in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or GED required. Associates degree preferred.
Minimum of three 3 years of progressive accounting experience preferably in a K12 school setting or government entity required. Accounts Payable experience required.
Makes accounting decisions which impact internal operations of the department as well as the operations of the schools and the district and local state and federal guidelines.
Moderate independent judgment is necessary. Decisions made on an asneeded basis to establish accounting operations and practices. Works independently under the guidance of the Accounting Manager.
Requires regular frequent contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decisionmaking responsibility to discuss issues of moderate importance. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with interorganizational teams.
Applies recommends and implements technology knowledge (spreadsheets word processing and database management) concepts to improve the effectiveness of the Department.
Normal office setting.
Light duty On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting standing or stooping.
Light lifting or carrying; twenty 20 lbs. or less.
NOTE: This is a Grade 24 225day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
