What is the Opportunity
As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design procurement early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
The Quality Manager Conventional Island (CI) will report directly to the Project Quality Director and is responsible for the implementation of the Quality Program in the Conventional Island segment. The Quality Manager CI will work with other Aecon sectors and Alliance partners to set up construction systems and processes that will achieve outstanding nuclear safety metrics and costeffective quality operational results in support of the DNNP.
What Youll Do Here:
- Ensure Quality Program requirements applicable to the Conventional Island segment are effectively implemented.
- Develop and implement project specific procedures and work instruction to support construction activities.
- Manage the Quality Team assigned to support the Conventional Island segment.
- Interface with the engineering procurement and construction groups on matters related to the planning of QC activities required by the design and applicable codes and standards including preparation of Inspection and Test Plans Construction Work Packages and NCR management.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to develop and enhance project qualityrelated documentation including inspection checklists test protocols work instructions and procedures.
- Conduct managementself assessment to monitor the implementation of the quality program within the project.
- Establish a culture of continuous improvements by identifying new practices that will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the project.
- Maintain liaison with Alliance Partners on matters related to planning and of the Conventional Island segment.
- Champion and promote a culture of nuclear safety and quality within the project.
- Interprets executes and recommends modifications to strategies and policies to sustain safety and quality performance.
- Support internal and external audits and customer oversight activities.
- Assist the project construction team with the implementation of codes and standards and regulatory requirements required by the design.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Preferably a graduate of a fouryear engineering program from a recognized university.
- At a minimum a graduate of a threeyear technology program at the College Level.
- 10 years of experience in the construction/fabrication industry with a minimum of 5 years in a Quality management/leadership role.
- CWB Weld Inspector Level II or Level III (CWB W178.2 is an asset
- CGSB Level 2 Liquid Penetrant & Magnetic Particle Technician is an asset
- Advance knowledge of construction codes and standards including:
- ASME Section VIII Div. 1
- ASME Section II Part A B & C
- ASME Section IX
- ASME Section V
- CSA N285.0 CSA N28612 & CSA N299
- ASNT SNTTC1A
- CSA W47.1/ W59
- ISO 9001 :2015
- CSA B51
- Expertise in the development of Quality Assurance Programs and processes.
- Continuous improvement and the use of process improvement methodologies
- Understands design and construction requirements.
- Strong coordination and organization skills with strict emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Advanced ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all internal organization departments Alliance partners subcontractors and regulatory authorities.
