What youll do
At SAP were integrating stateoftheart AI technology with our industryspecific data and deep process knowledge to innovate across SAP products & services. Large Language Models (LLMs) are transforming Machine Learning but pose challenges in business applications due to their limited understanding of structured and unstructured business data such as business data models business process metadata and documentation which slows the development progress. It is SAPs mission to overcome this challenge within the realm of Business AI. Our goal is to provide Knowledge Graphs (KGs) as key differentiators to address LLM challenges like hallucination and compliance as well as enable the development of the foundation models on structured data to deliver distinctive generative AI solutions to our customers.

The Role:

• Establish and manage research collaborations with academia industry and commercial partners
• Contribute pioneering technical advances to the combination of knowledge graphs and large language models including handson contributions to model code
• Enable academic research by providing Business AI relevant problem statements frameworks and data sets
• Keep the pulse with the research providing insights into the latest research findings and making them comparable with internal work
• Translate project innovations into research publications and contribute to thought leadership in large language models and Generative AI.
• Work closely with the knowledge graph team to exchange information and ensure that internal initiatives and project deliverables are aligned with community best practices.

What you bring

• PhD orMasters degree in Computer Science Artificial Intelligence physics mathematics or other relevant disciplines
• Extensive experience withKnowledge Graphs as well aslarge language models (e.g. graph embeddings)
• Proven experience and deep understanding oftheopportunities and challengesassociated with collaboration between industrial and academic research
• Candidate must have an academic background in Knowledge Graphs (modeling and validation) and how to leverage semantic technologies for LLMs or Foundation Models. This should be supported by a substantial record of related publications including recent works and a wellestablished network in these fields.
• Indepth experience with semantic modeling technologies: RDF RDF* RDFS OWL SHACL and python libraries for graphs (Neo4j TypeDB are added advantage). Expertise in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch TensorFlow or similar. Ideally a modeling expert with working knowledge of adapting LLMs with Knowledge Graph context and semantics.
• Ideally a proven track record in knowledge graph modeling related research with sub topics like modeling of domain specific knowledge graph vocabularies cross use case vocabularies modeling design patterns or knowledge graph life cycle management.
• Ideally professional experience withthecombination of knowledge graphsand large language modelsinERP domain
• Proven history of leading projects with a strategic mindset complemented by superior organizational abilities
