Job Description
We are looking for an Engineering Manager Mobile Platform (fulltime) to join our Platform team in Berlin.
As Engineering Manager for the Mobile Platform team you will be pivotal in shaping the technical foundation that powers Babbels mobile experiences. This team is at the core of ensuring that Babbels iOS and Android applications are reliable scalable and equipped with the tools and frameworks that enable product teams to deliver bestinclass learning experiences.
You will lead and mentor a team of talented engineers fostering a culture of trust inclusivity and innovation. This is a handsoff management role but your deep technical understanding of mobile platforms will allow you to provide guidance challenge assumptions and ensure sound technical decisions are made. You will act as a connector facilitating collaboration between product teams and platform engineering to ensure the mobile platform evolves in line with business needs and technological advances.
Success in this role means creating a platform that empowers Babbels mobile product teams to move faster with greater confidence and with a focus on delivering value to millions of learners worldwide.
You will:
- Empower and guide your team fostering a culture of trust inclusion and continuous improvement
- Collaborate on defining and aligning the teams vision with Babbels strategic goals
- Drive the development and maintenance of a scalable reliable and secure mobile platform infrastructure
- Ensure highquality engineering practices through mentoring knowledgesharing and process improvements
- Collaborate crossfunctionally with product managers designers and other engineering teams to deliver impactful solutions
- Promote a culture of innovation by empowering your team to experiment and learn from one another while staying informed about industry trends to keep Babbel at the forefront of the mobile ecosystem
You have:
- 5 years of experience in mobile application development with at least 1/2 years in a leadership or management role. Proven track record of managing mobile teams and delivering highimpact mobile applications at scale
- Handson Mobile Engineering Expertise with a strong background in mobile engineering & deep expertise in building iOS (Swift/ObjectiveC) and Android (Java/Kotlin) applications. Experience with crossplatform frameworks (e.g. Flutter React Native) is a plus
- Experience operating performant mobile apps in production environments including app store management and instrumentation
- Experience building scalable mobile architectures and working with cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines

- Experience advocating for best practices in testing and driving automation initiatives to ensure highquality efficient processes
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
