The Benefit Administration Division of the Maryland StateRetirement Agency is recruiting for five 5 summer internship positions. Theseare fulltime positions scheduled to work Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to4:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in our offices located at 120 E. BaltimoreStreet Baltimore Maryland 21202. Selected candidates will be expected tostart work on May 21 2025 and continue through August 19 2025. These datesare flexible for candidates who need to start a week later or leave a weekearly due to school schedules.
These are hands on positions. Duties may include:
Reviewing pension payroll data to resolve data errors.
Reviewing and processing new enrollmentapplications.
Reviewing and processing retirement applications.
Reviewing and processing refund applications and taxwithholding forms.
Assisting with reconciling production jobs.
Preparing mailings.
Filing completed work.
Other administrative and office support functions.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school andpursuing a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: None.
Pursuing or intent to pursue a bachelors degree inAccounting Business Administration Economics Finance Management PublicAdministration or related fields.

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered underthe State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program have acurrent employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage forthemselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee you will beresponsible for paying 25 of the premiums for your medical and prescriptioncoverage including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State ofMaryland will subsidize the remaining 75 of the cost for these benefits. Youcan also elect to enroll in dental coverage accidental death anddismemberment insurance and life insurance but will beresponsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hourfor every 30 hours worked not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
