Job Description

Zoox is developing stateoftheart autonomous vehicle software for our purposebuilt vehicle. We believe that building the product endtoend will not only accelerate our path to market but also deliver a superior customer experience.

The Observability team at Zoox is dedicated to enabling visibility across distributed systems by building an intuitive robust observability platform. Our mission is to empower engineering teams to make datadriven decisions and achieve operational excellence through bestinclass tools for metrics traces logs events and continuous profiling.

Were looking for an engineer with experience in highload or dataintensive applications who understands the complexities of distributed systems and knows how to design solutions that improve system reliability and performance. In this role you will bridge the gap between infrastructure and application teams focusing on creating solutions that enhance system visibility and the developer experience.

In this role you will:

    • Define implement and advocate for best practices in observability
    • Build and maintain a scalable observability platform that provides realtime insights into distributed systems and applications
    • Collaborate with software and infrastructure teams to understand their requirements and develop solutions that drive operational excellence and datadriven decisionmaking
    • Integrate and improve industrystandard tools like OpenTelemetry Vector Kafka ClickHouse and Grafana while also developing custom tools when necessary
    • Iterate on our own AIpowered observability assistant to enhance the developer experience and streamline troubleshooting workflows
    • Create and maintain detailed documentation for observability tools and practices to ensure teamwide understanding and adoption

Qualifications

    • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field with 5 years of industry experience
    • Strong experience with highload or dataintensive applications and a deep understanding of distributed systems
    • Fluency in at least one of the following programming languages: Go C Kotlin Python
    • Customerfocused mindset with a passion for building intuitive and robust observability solutions

Bonus Qualifications

    • Experience with OpenTelemetry or other observability tools
    • A background in Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps
    • Opensource contributions
Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $165000 to $264000. A signon bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling as well as positioning within a level is determined by a range of factors including but not limited to a candidates relevant years of experience domain knowledge and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
