DescriptionJob Summary:Coordinates patient appointments and referrals in an ambulatory clinical setting. Provides excellent customer service to patients and referring practices answering calls professionally and efficiently. Ensures accurate messaging and appointment scheduling using electronic systems.
Education & Experience:- Required: High school diploma or GED and one year of office or clerical experience in a customer service role.
- Preferred: Medical terminology knowledge and familiarity with insurance requirements.
Licensure & Certification:- Required: Satisfactory score on departmental data entry test.
Key Responsibilities:- Serves as a liaison between scheduling clinics and referring practices.
- Uses computer systems to schedule update and cancel appointments.
- Screens calls delivers messages and ensures effective communication between departments.
- Coordinates tests surgeries and paperwork between physicians labs and patients.
- Assists with inpatient testing and scheduling based on urgency and logistics.
- Verifies insurance secures prior authorizations and assists with billing inquiries.
- Maintains accurate patient records insurance details and authorization documentation.
- Supports department goals by improving customer service and resolving issues.
- Updates physician calendars schedules surgeries and reschedules appointments as needed.
- Works collaboratively with coworkers to meet department objectives.
