Job Description
About the Position:
We are currently seeking an experienced Line Mechanic C in our Saranac Lake area with the ability to travel extensively to job sites within the National Grid territory at a minimum hourly rate of $46.45. Under direct supervision to do all types of work involved in the construction rearrangement operation and maintenance of either transmission or distribution circuits. Under general supervision in rural areas and occasionally or periodically in urban areas to locate and correct trouble on energized distribution circuits and overhead series street lighting circuits or perform similar work on deenergized transmission circuits.
Job Qualifications:
- Must be a qualified Journeyman Lineman with a minimum of at least three and half years experience as a lineman.
- Must have a good knowledge of Company line practices and standards phasing and phase rotation on polyphase circuits and ability to make polyphase transformer installations;
- A good knowledge of the transmission and distribution systems in the area to which the employee is assigned.
- Must pass physical abilities examination;
- Must pass validated aptitude test.
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Must have CDL A
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Ability and willingness to work around hazardous/heavy equipment and energized electrical equipment.
- Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Company safety rules and federal state and local regulations.
- Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations and remote job sites.
- Ability and willingness to work different schedules on holidays and weekends and overtime as required.
- Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including all weather conditions at elevated heights (above 30 feet) and in confined spaces.
NOTE: In accordance with the Labor Agreement extension this position is eligible to be classified as a Day Worker or Scheduled Worker.
Salary:
- $46.45/Hourly
Please be advised that due to the nature of this position incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation (DOT) covered positions including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such the Companys testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited or alcohol for recreational or medical purposes will remain in effect for these safetysensitive DOT covered positions.
Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union. Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
