Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Allen Elementary School Counselor Grades 12
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper certification through the Arkansas Department of
Education
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as a leader in the school and community to advocate and support student success.
- Assist students in academic achievement introduction to careers and personal/social development.
- Provide individual counseling group counseling and classroom guidance lessons.
- Work with staff to promote an understanding of human development theories and developmental issues affecting student success.
- Collaborate with parents teachers administrators community members and other stakeholders to promote and support student success.
- Develop and utilize materials and instructional strategies to meet students needs and school goals.
- Refer families to appropriate community agencies and assist with finding resources as needed.
- Analyze data to determine program effectiveness and identify program needs.
- Promote the districts and schools vision and mission.
- Keep accurate record of all counseling and guidance activities.
- Inform administration of various students needs.
- Collaborate with other building counselors regarding student needs.
- Protect the confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with state laws and Board policies.
