Job Description
In this key role you will:
- Ensure optimal patient outcomes are met through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing unit(s) or area(s).
- Advocate for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes.
- Take accountability for the quality safety and costeffectiveness of patient care.
- Consult and collaborate with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care.
- Serve as a resource to staff physicians students and others.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising staff involved in providing clinical patient care.
- Assisting in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery in a specific patient care area and serves as a role model for professional nursing practice.
- Assisting with the administration and management of personnel fiscal and material resources.
- Potentially assuming full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80 120 of the established midpoint. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
15 Moffitt is a 24 beds acuity adaptable Neuro Specialty Unit. We care for 100 Neurosurgery Neurovascular and Neurology patient population which includes pre/post op ICU transfers transfer center and direct admits. There is Centralized Cardiac Telemetry and Centralized Continuous Pulse Oximetry capability. Patients may require cardiac and respiratory monitoring more frequent assessments and specialized treatments requiring more intensive nursing care than an acute care unit.
Neurovascular/ Neurological: CVAs/strokes seizure disorders altered mental status encephalitis neuromuscular disorders TIAs and intractable migraines.
Neurosurgical: Craniotomies for tumors acoustic neuromas aneurysms arteriovenous malformations deep brain stimulators trigeminal neuralgia and seizure disorders. Transsphenoidal surgeries for pituitary tumors and stereotactic biopsies. VP (ventriculo peritoneal) shunts and lumbar drain placements; and select EVDs.
NeuroInterventional: Cerebral angiograms and embolizations.
An interdisciplinary team of nurses physicians therapists and Case Managers work together to care for to rehabilitate to improve outcomes for an optimal discharge to home or other health care settings.
